mcg.evolve   MCG.evolve is a unique ERP system specifically designed from the bottom up to address the operational, logistics, and commercial requirements of the process industries (food, beverage, pharmaceutical).

 

History

As a consultancy organisation involved in helping organisations undertake change we were often frustrated by identifying changes needed but being prevented from achieving the desired results due to the lack of flexible systems in the market place specifically aimed at addressing the needs of the process sector. After working with a number of major international ERP vendors we came to the conclusion that the only way we were going to be able to deliver the appropriate solutions to our clients problems was to develop our own solution that would be able to meet the following clear goals.

Goals

  • A solution designed around the way the process industries operate and includes all those elements that make it different/special.

  • A system that provides maximum flexibility for re-configuration so that the system would fit the clients ideal processes not the other way around.

  • A system that spans all of the requirements of the business so no expensive add-ons are required (e.g. Warehousing; Product Development; Personnel etc.. all provided as a single solution).

  • Utilise latest technology for ease of implementation and support so minimal IT resources are required to support the solution and using technologies that do not require expensive re-investment in the existing desktop infrastructure.

  • Leverage existing Microsoft Office tools to increase the users ability to extract and manipulate information and minimise the cost of additional 3rd party licensing.

  • Provide a solution that can be hosted so that multi-site operations can be supported from a single server installation efficiently & effectively.

  • Provide a unique licensing model that provides for unlimited users so the client can expand the user base secure in the knowledge it is not going to cost them any more.

  • Finally provide a solution that is open so that the clients own technical staff can choose to extend the system themselves.

Result

MCG.evolve started its life in 2005 and has been developed using the latest Microsoft ASP.net technologies on top of Microsoft's SQL Server database.  the system is implemented as an Intranet / Internet application that only requires the user to have Microsoft's free Internet Explorer (browser) installed on their PC as the bulk of the work takes place on a server.  The server component can be delivered as an internal system or we can provide it hosted on one of our servers based in a major secure UK  Datacentre. This configuration means that users can have secure but easy access to the system where ever they may be in the world.  Updating the whole system takes only a matter of minutes minimising downtime and maximising availability to levels previously not achievable.
